Visit some of the most charming medieval towns north of Barcelona

Close to Barcelona you find a wide range of well-preserved medieval towns. We have chosen three of the most interesting places for this private city tour from Barcelona: Peratallada, Pals and Girona.

The tour starts with pick-up at your hotel by a private bus, driver and an English speaking guide.

Peratallada

One of the best known medieval towns north of Barcelona, and has been declared a historic-artistic monument. It name means “carved stone”, a well-chosen name for this village where most of the houses are well preserved stone houses with several centuries of history. The 13th century Romanesque church lies in the center of the town and the history of the castle of the city goes all the way back to 1065.

Pals

From Peratallada we continue to yet another charming stone village: Pals. Here you will find a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. From the top of the village you have nice views of the area and the Mediterranean cost to the east of Pals.

Girona

After the visit to Pals, we continue to Girona - a walled city with a very well preserved medieval quarter. Before visiting the city center we will have lunch with typical local cuisine at the pretty square Plaça Independència. After a nice lunch we will visit the city center of Girona. Girona was originally built by the Romans, and it since became a key city in the Kingdom of Aragon and Catalonia in the middle ages.

You can go on a guided walking tour with your personal guide, who will show you the cathedral (which has the widest nave in a gothic church in the world), the city walls and the Jewish Quarter. After this you will also have time to explore the Arabian baths, the Romanesque churches and the beautiful plazas on your own.
