Itinerary

The wine tour to Northern Spain is foremost a journey through some of the most interesting wine districts of Spain. Ribera del Duero has seen a revolution of its wines and the neighbor La Rioja has also reinvented itself. During this wine tour to Northern Spain you will travel through some of the best wine regions in Spain, but also experience spellbinding architecture.

World renowned architects like Sir Richard Rogers, Santiago Calatrava, Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Norman Foster have been working in Northern Spain over the last decades.

Day 1 // Ribera del duero

The tour starts in Ribera del Duero, without a doubt one of the best wine districts in Spain. We are visiting Bodegas Aalto, the producer of Aalto & Aalto PS. The wines are two fabolous reds, and the winery is an impressive, modern building.

After the visit, you will enjoy a nice lunch at Cepa 21. Together with the food, you will be able to enjoy wonderful views of the vineyards. Overnight at 4* hotel in the historic center of Burgos. Overnight at hotel Abadia Retuerta, a stylish, 5* boutique hotel, that offers wine spa and luxury accommodation.

Day 2 // Burgos & Ribera del Duero

Breakfast buffet at hotel

We now go north and visit Burgos. After a visit to the city and the enormous cathedral, you will enjoy a gourmet lunch at one of the best restaurants in the city.

After lunch we go into the Ribera del Duero Wine Region , where you will visit one of the best wineries in the area.

Overnight at charming hotel 4* in Bilbao.

Day 3 // Bilbao and Rioja

Breakfast buffet at the hotel in Bilbao.

Possibility of visiting the famous Guggenheum museum.

After lunch tour to the Rioja district in the afternoon: visit to the Marqués de Riscal winery. This traditional winery had a new building a few years ago, designed by Frank Gehry, the famous architect behind the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.

Overnight at hotel Viura, a charming 4* winery hotel in Rioja.

Day 4 // San Sebastián

Buffet breakfast at the hotel.

Transportation from San Sebastián. Visit to the the beautiful city of San Sebastián. Exhuberant lunch at one of the many good tapas restaurants.

Early afternoon accommodation in beaituful hotel **** with sea views in San Sebastián. Afternoon and evening on your own.

Day 5 // San Sebastián & Madrid

Buffet breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Madrid

The wine tour to Northern Spain can be arranged from either Madrid, Barcelona or Bilbao. The tour can be arranged either with or without guide and with or without hotels.
