The “Castells” are human towers (or human "castles") built as a tradition in Catalonia. This tradition dates back to the 18th century in Valls, a small town near Tarragona. To build a human castle is the ultimate team building activity: to succeed in the construction of the castells, you need perseverence, patience and skills but above all: collaboration within the team. One small mistake and the human castle will fall, and the only way to get the castle standing is to collaborate and trust in the team.
In 2010, the UNESCO declared the “Castells” as Heritatge of Humanity. Nowadays, there are different groups (known as “Colles”) that compete against each other.
How does it work?
First, real castellers (human tower builders) will explain you more about the human towers and the activity. Then, all the group will work together to build a small “Castell” (but do not worry, this activity is completely safe). Our human towering experts will show you how to build it safely.
